Unified English Braille


On November 2, 2012, the United States members of the Braille Authority of North America (BANA) External link opens in new window or tab. voted to adopt Unified English Braille (UEB) to replace English Braille American Edition. January 4, 2016 became the date by which the United States would implement UEB. The BANA board could not reach a consensus regarding the establishment of a single code for technical materials so the decision to use UEB or the Nemeth Code within UEB context for technical materials should be made based on braille readers' individual needs.
