COSB Webinar

Council of Schools and Services for the Blind (COSB) Webinar on Mental Health Practices for Blind and Low-Vision Students.

What

Mental health is a critical component of student success, yet blind and low-vision students face unique challenges that are often overlooked.

Therefore, the Council of Schools and Services for the Blind (COSB) is hosting an interactive, online workshop to explore research-backed strategies to support the well-being of blind and low-vision students.

We aim to equip educators with practical tools to foster emotional resilience and a sense of belonging.

Through expert-led discussions, participants will gain insights into:
Socio-Emotional Screening Tools - Learn about assessments designed to identify mental health needs specific to blind and low-vision students.
Audio Yoga & Physical Activity - Discover accessible ways to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance well-being through movement.
How Physical Activity Enhances Mental Health - Explore how movement-based activities help regulate emotions, reduce anxiety, and improve focus in blind and low-vision students.
Ruling Our Experiences - Explore how self-advocacy and empowerment programs can positively shape students' mental health.
Isolation & Depression - Understand the psychological impact of social exclusion and strategies to foster inclusion.
Current Data & Implications for Educators - Examine the latest research on the mental health of blind and low-vision individuals and how it informs best practices in education.
